At the time we were in the region, foreigners could not get to Dara (officially anyway). The town of Sakhakot also in the FATA region, but North of Peshawar, from all accounts was similar to Dara, but on a smaller scale. We had our fixer with us, and he enabled us to get into the factory area's out back and actually see the weapons being made. We couldn't resist the temptation to let fire with a couple, and the looks on their faces when I handed the AK47 to Liza to let a few rounds off was unforgettable. Appreciate your comment, thanks. I didn't feel the need to try out any of the guns, despite their repeated insistence that I do so, but just walking through the lanes of this places was surreal enough for me. Great photo by the way!
