Image of The Week: New Caledonia – Afternoon Sun On An Old Stone Building

This weeks image is another captured in New Caledonia a couple of years ago, during our camping tour of Grande Terre. We were cruising around some out of the way back roads looking for a secluded beach spot to have lunch when I noticed this old stone building. I made mention to Liza, that I wanted to stop on the way back, as the light we be perfect. As it turned out a few dark clouds started to roll in, that made for an even better backdrop to the image.

You’ll have to do a series of how to take great photos on cloudy days Jason. Nice capture. Very fresh looking, makes the building pop very nicely.

Hey Dave, The weather was kind to me for this shot. There was a storm starting to brew in the background, and the sun was in all it’s glory beaming through from behind, and illuminated the building perfectly.

I always prefer to convert shots like this to black and white, as clouds always look better in black and white. Another case of the right place at the right time. Thanks for your comment mate.

Hey Andi, I’m afraid most people would miss this one. We just chanced upon it whilst looking for a nice beach spot to have a picnic lunch. I had to climb through a couple of barbed wire fences to get to it as well. It was in an area near the old jail, if your familiar with New Caledonia.
